Replacement Lidl store secured for historic market town

09 Oct 2017
Lichfields has successfully gained planning permission for a new 2,755 sqm (gross) Lidl store within the historic market town of Knaresborough. The new store will replace the existing Lidl foodstore at York Road which, due to increasing customer numbers and a lack of warehouse space, is no longer able to meet growing customer demands.

The replacement store represents the company’s most recent design and will include an enlarged sales area, full height glazing and a covered canopy at the entrance of the store. Once opened, the new store will provide up to 20 new full and part-time jobs, in addition to those already employed in the existing store.

Acting as planning consultant to Lidl, Lichfields was responsible for preparing, submitting and negotiating the planning application with Harrogate Borough Council.

We are delighted to be able to assist Lidl in their development programme across the Yorkshire region - and to have recently secured permission for another new store at Knaresborough which will significantly improve the food shopping offer within the town.
