Chandler’s Way, Broxburn

Project

Chandler’s Way, Broxburn

Broxburn Regeneration Ltd

220 East Main Street in Broxburn was a large brownfield site that formerly accommodated the Halls of Broxburn (Vion) meat processing plant. With the plant closed and the site cleared, we supported the planning application for 190 new homes on the site. To enable this development to go ahead, we secured a significant reduction in the developer contributions requested by West Lothian Council. We were able to argue that the reduction was justified on the basis of West Lothian’s assumptions on the development pipeline in the local school catchment areas and the capacity that existed in those schools. Marketeted as Chandler’s Way by Bellway Homes, a range of three and four bedroom homes have been delivered on the site.
Without Lichfields' knowledge of the education contribution methodology and challenging of the Council’s position we would not have achieved such a successful outcome on this project.
