A little over a year on from the publication of the revised NPPF, it is interesting to look at how the emerging plans of local authorities are responding to the standard method for calculating housing needs. This new methodology seeks to support the Government in meeting their target to deliver 300,000 new homes a year.

In the September 2019 edition of Public Property Magazine, Sophie Innes summarised the key findings from Lichfields’ research of local authorities currently preparing new Local Plans across England, highlighting those proposing to deliver both above and below their standard method figures and the pressure from London likely being unable to meet its own needs.
