Permission secured for Staines sustainable development

27 Jan 2022
Lichfields is pleased to have secured permission at appeal for a sustainable development in a highly accessible location in Staines Town Centre.
Acting on behalf of Inland Homes, the scheme features the redevelopment of the Former Masonic Hall and Old Telephone Exchange in Staines. It consists of 206 dwellings (with 36% affordable housing provision) across two buildings of 15 and 13 storeys respectively which are linked by a landscaped podium.
Notwithstanding officer support, Spelthorne Borough Council determined to refuse permission on the grounds of height and parking provision. Lichfields' team provided Planning, Heritage and Townscape Visual Impact services as part of a project team that included Paul Tucker QC, Lambert Smith Hampton, PJA, Assael Architects and Inland Homes.

Lichfields have carefully navigated and advised Inland on this site for over three years. Our scheme has been vindicated by the Inspector who agreed the site was ideal for a high density, car free scheme.
