Oonagh Cranley appointed Chair of IHBC North Branch

14 Jun 2022
Lichfields would like to congratulate Oonagh Cranley, Associate Director in the Newcastle Office, on her recent appointment as Chair of the IHBC North Branch.
The Institute of Historic Building Conservation (IHBC) is the professional body for historic environment experts and conservation specialists. It exists to establish, develop and maintain the highest standards of conservation practice, to support the effective protection and enhancement of the historic environment, and to promote heritage-led regeneration and access to the historic environment for all.
The Institute has a strong network of regional branches that support the national organisation and its members. The North Branch covers Cleveland, Cumbria, Durham, Northumberland and Tyne and Wear.
IHBC North Branch Chair, Oonagh Cranley, said:
I am delighted to be appointed as Chair of the IHBC North Branch. I have a fantastic committee and membership base behind me who want to reinvigorate our local network after a difficult few years. We have launched an exciting new programme of events and activities for the region - which happily coincides with the IHBC’s 25th anniversary #IHBC25. The Institute has achieved so much in its 25 year history and I look forward to contributing to its next chapter.
IHBC Director, Sean O'Reilly, said:
We're absolutely delighted Oonagh and her team were able to take the initiative to revive the Branch after its pause in the pandemic. We now have our regional Committee formally elected, with in-person networking to help grow support, and an exciting programme of events. What better way to move past the pandemic, so well done indeed to Oonagh and the Branch.
Lichfields Heritage Director, Nick Bridgland, said:
Lichfields has a long history in the heritage sector, dating back to Nathaniel Lichfield’s pioneering study ‘Economics In Urban Conservation’ in 1989. We continue to offer expert advice for the historic environment and remain fully engaged in the wider sector.

We support the IHBC and encourage all our heritage specialists to achieve full membership status – recognised as ‘the mark of the conservation professional’ in the industry. We support Oonagh in her endeavours and are happy to host an IHBC Membership Application and Training Event in our Newcastle Office on 15 July.
