James joined Lichfields in September 2018 after graduating with a master’s in Town Planning from Newcastle University’s School of Architecture, Planning and Landscape.

Whilst at Lichfields James has worked on a range of planning and heritage focused projects for housing, commercial and industrial developments in the north of England and Scotland. James has experience of writing Heritage Impact Assessments, EIA Heritage Chapters and preparing planning and listed building consent applications. James prepared the application for Life Kitchen, Sunderland, which was the overall winner of the RTPI North-East Regional Award for Planning Excellence in 2019.

James also completed a short placement in a local authority planning department.

James has an interest in heritage schemes, and developments taking place in the historic environment.
