Laurence joins us from the Birmingham office of Avison Young (previously GVA), having worked there with Jon. He undertakes a wide variety of work for private and public sector clients. He promotes sites for development through the planning process and represents clients’ interests at Examination in Public. He has a track record of managing complex planning applications, principally for residential and retail-led development, for a diverse client base which includes landowners, promoters, housebuilders and supermarket operators.
Laurence advises local planning authorities on retail capacity and impact matters associated with local plan evidence and applicants’ submissions, and specialises in the preparation of quantitative retail impact assessments to support major planning applications for new and replacement stores on behalf of national supermarket operators.
Recent successes include securing the allocation of the Melton Northern Sustainable Neighbourhood, in the Melton Borough Local Plan; and securing the allocation and subsequent grant of outline planning permission at Cromwell Lane, Coventry, for 240 new homes on a site previously within the designated Green Belt.
