Ashton Gate

Project

Ashton Gate

Bristol Sport Ltd & Ashton Gate Ltd

Lichfields led the planning process to significantly redevelop Ashton Gate Stadium (the home of Bristol City Football Club and Bristol Rugby) providing planning and economic support. The new stadium provides major improvements to the quality and range of facilities at the stadium, as well as an increase in capacity to 27,000 seats with new west and south stands.

Permission was granted in 2013 with unanimous support by committee. The development has helped catalyse the regeneration of South Bristol and will enhance the clubs’ roles within the local community. Lichfields’ Economic Statement determined that the redevelopment will bring up to an additional £24 million in match-day annual spend and significant job creation both at the stadium and in the local area. Lichfields continues to advise Bristol Sport Ltd on further site enhancements and its wider interests in the City.

We have been delighted to advise the Club on its major regeneration plans at Ashton Gate Stadium. Our strong working relationship with the client, Bristol City Council and project team, ensured that we secured permission swiftly to enable the project to be implemented on programme. It is great to see the newly transformed stadium working so well.
