BBC Wales Cymru Broadcasting House

Cardiff
Rightacres Property Ltd

When the BBC launched a competition for a new Broadcasting House in Cardiff we were delighted to join the Rightacres team. The Rightacres' winning bid focused on a Foster + Partners designed building in front of Cardiff Central Rail Station and will be a showpiece of the Central Square Regeneration Project.
Working with a multi-disciplinary team, we successfully coordinated and submitted a planning application for the BBC HQ and an adjacent office/mixed use building together with a full Environment Impact Assessment. As well as managing and coordinating the submission, Lichfields undertook various assessments, including Heritage, Economic and, Townscape & Visual Impact. Working with Foster + Partners we also prepared the Central Square Masterplan Document, which covered the wider Central Square Regeneration Area, part of Cardiff’s Enterprise Zone.
Permission was duly secured and in time to meet the exacting programme needed for Rightacres and the BBC to agree terms and to allow construction on site to commence.
It’s enormously rewarding to play a part in such a prestigious development and one which will transform Cardiff’s Central Square - the Gateway to Wales.
