Boord Street

Parkhurst Road Limited

Lichfields provided Heritage, Townscape and Visual advice from the outset in relation to the redevelopment of a vacant brownfield site on Greenwich Peninsula. The scheme - a new urban block - includes new homes, a self-storage facility, student accommodation, nursery and ‘makers spaces’ in buildings up to 26 storeys.
Lichfields’ prepared a Townscape and Visual Appraisal (TVA) and separate Heritage Statement which accompanied the submission. The TVA assessed effects of the scale, massing and design on the townscape and views, having regard to Masterplan and Planning Brief. The assessment considered the effects on both the existing, largely industrial, surroundings and compatibility with the emerging taller mixed-use context. Both the TVA and Heritage Statement provided proportionate, robust and clearly articulated assessment and followed relevant best practice and guidance. Officers agreed that the scheme would be acceptable in townscape and heritage terms and would make a positive contribution to the existing and emerging skyline.
Planning permission was granted for the development in November 2024.
The Townscape and Visual Appraisal and Heritage Statement that were submitted with the application provided a coherent and persuasive analysis of the key issues, demonstrating that the proposal would complement its emerging context and not give rise to any harm to heritage assets.
