Digital Planning Reform Programme

Department for Levelling Up, Housing and Communities

Government has embarked on an ambitious, digital reform programme to modernise England’s planning system so that it can be more efficient, more certain and make it easier for citizens and communities to engage in planning and development.
Lichfields was appointed as part of a consortium alongside TPXimpact and Scott Logic to be the multi-disciplinary delivery partner for DLUHC on the programme, working on a series of projects focused around:
  • Policy development with digital and data elements, supporting discoveries, alphas and betas to inform policy, products and services

  • New services or modernising of existing services, co-creating modern, data driven approaches with local authorities and the market

  • System Mapping of planning processes

  • Creating new best practice guidance and toolkits for engagement across the planning system

We are delighted to be partnering with Government as it aims to shift a semi-analogue planning system based on documents to one that is data-driven, standards based, and powered by modern user-centred products and services. Lichfields brings real-world planning expertise and our focus on innovation to help shape this major evolution in planning practice.
