Project

Kingston University

Lichfields has provided planning and heritage advice to Kingston University in connection with its four academic campuses, student accommodation sites and sports facilities. Our input has ranged from small to large site specific projects, as well as helping to inform the University’s longer term Estate Vision. A recent project includes The Town House, designed by Dublin based architects, Grafton, that won the 2021 Stirling Prize and the EU Prize for Contemporary Architecture – Mies van der Rohe Award, the highest accolade in European architecture. Lichfields also secured planning permission for the £29M refurbishment and extension of the School of Art’s Mill Street Building , designed by Haworth Tompkins, that achieved BREEAM Outstanding and won the 2021 BREEAM Award for the best Public Sector Project – Post Construction.

Each of the University’s campuses has its own challenges and opportunities. We’ve worked closely with the University and its design teams to secure planning permissions for new high quality, flexible and sustainable buildings that will allow teaching to adapt for future generations.
