Knottingley and Ferrybridge Masterplan

Wakefield Council

Lichfields, together with its partners Gillespies and Systra were instructed by Wakefield Council to prepare a forward thinking, visionary and sustainable concept for the rejuvenation and growth of the Knottingley and Ferrybridge settlement in West Yorkshire.
A Masterplan and infrastructure delivery plan was prepared which through the emerging Wakefield Local Plan will expand the existing settlement deliver some 2,600 new homes and approximately 855,000 m2 of employment floor space, together with a new east west link road with significant improvement to the layout and services of Knottingley town centre.
With the benefit of established experience of the local area, Lichfields were able to seamlessly engage with local people, businesses and elected representatives. In establishing the baseline for the masterplan, Lichfields interpreted data provided by the Council, housing, education and healthcare providers to inform the development of a masterplan vision for the Knottingley and Ferrybridge area. The Masterplan and supporting information have subsequently informed the emerging Wakefield Local Plan.

The consultant team fully and effectively met the Council’s needs. Lichfields were very good and had a clear understanding of the brief. Collectively the client and consultant team developed a great working relationship. Output quality was very good with well evidenced work with lots of information. This surpassed expectation.
