Newcastle International Airport

Project

Newcastle International Airport

Newcastle International Airport Ltd

Lichfields was initially commissioned to advise on the preparation of the airport’s first comprehensive masterplan, which included economic impact studies assessing the contribution of the airport in generating employment and attracting inward investment to the sub-region. This assisted the airport in securing major Green Belt deletions from the local plan in order to facilitate future expansion.  We subsequently secured planning permission for a major office development on behalf of UK Land Estates and Newcastle International Airport Ltd, safeguarding the expansion of ancillary landside economic development at the airport.  The new permission, which removed a previous airport related use restriction, comprises more than 16,000 square metres of office floorspace and anchors the airport’s major Southside Development opportunity.  This strategically important development will enhance the status of Newcastle International Airport as an office location and help to create significant new jobs for the region.

Newcastle International Airport remains one of the critical economic drivers for the north east region and is a major transport hub. Lichfields has played an important role in laying the foundations for its economic success and we look forward to building on this relationship in the future.
