Project
Rowcroft Hospice
Lichfields led the pre-application and planning process to secure permission for the comprehensive redevelopment of Rowcroft Hospice. The remodelling and expansion of Rowcroft Hospice, which sits within 8.9ha of secluded woodland on a Torquay hilltop, will significantly enhance care for people with life-limiting illnesses.
A 14-bed in-patient unit will reflect a family home with state-of-the-art equipment that supports independence. A new 60-bed specialist nursing home has been informed by international best practice (including Be Advice) and will care for those living with dementia and other complex mental health needs. In addition, 40-assisted living apartments with communal facilities will also be provided for those who wish to maintain some independence but with the support of domicile care.
The landscape-led scheme centres on a village-green concept with a village hall, restaurant, shops and allotments as well as a nursery to support intergenerational mixing, and includes three visitor lodges so family or friends can be close to loved ones.
To achieve a unanimous approval for planning for our exciting plans to enhance and extend our care to our community is a real testament to the first-class planning expertise that Lichfields provides. They are a real pleasure to work with and professional throughout. I am in no doubt we would not have achieved this outcome without Lichfields.
