Project
Stepping Hill Hospital Emergency and Urgent Care Campus
Stockport NHS Foundation Trust
Tilbury Douglas Construction Ltd
Lichfields was appointed by Tilbury Douglas Construction Limited on behalf of Stockport NHS Foundation Trust to deliver a new extension to the Emergency and Urgent Care Campus [EUCC] at Stepping Hill Hospital in Stockport. The development forms part of a wider proposal to refurbish the EUCC and bring the accommodation up to modern standards where the clinical excellence of the operations can be protected. The objective is to provide a modern efficient and effective EUCC that can continue to serve the existing community for years to come.
Lichfields worked closely with Stockport Metropolitan Borough Council and the project team to secure planning permission for this contemporary extension. The main campus frontage will be extended to accommodate an enlarged ambulance and patient reception area. The project includes the provision of new assessment, treatment and consultation areas, a new children’s emergency department and an enhanced mental health and medical same-day emergency care facility.
Lichfields prepared a comprehensive planning application within a tight timeframe and provided ongoing strategic advice to the project team and designers. Lichfields dissected the elements of the scheme which comprised permitted development to streamline the planning strategy to focus on the external treatment of the main extension. Lichfields is providing continued planning support for the delivery of this £30 million project.
These new facilities will help us to provide the safe, good-quality care which these patients need.
