Stevenage Bioscience Catalyst

Lichfields advised the Stevenage Bioscience Catalyst (SBC) on the proposals for the UK’s first open innovation bioscience campus, negotiating and fast-tracking the planning approvals and legal agreements in order to meet the tight programme for delivery. The first phase of SBC provides bioscience start-ups with vital access to expert knowledge and research, strong links with leading pharmaceutical companies and high quality facilities.
Lichfields subsequently advised the Cell and Gene Therapy Catapult (CGTC) on obtaining permission for a manufacturing building immediately north of the SBC. Supported by Innovate UK, the proposals will help cell and gene therapy organisations across the world translate early stage research into commercially viable and investable therapies. The £55 million manufacturing centre at Stevenage is currently under construction.

To advise on such important developments that have the potential to deliver a step-change in scientific research is tremendously rewarding.  We were able to assist with prompt outcomes for the various applications and we look forward to the success of the campus, going forward.
