In the event of seeing or smelling a fire

If you see or smell a fire, dial 999 immediately and activate the fire alarm. Only use fire fighting equipment if you have received training and feel confident to do so.

If you hear the fire alarm

Lichfields’ fire marshal (Ellie Inger) will check the office is fully evacuated, including the meeting room and both male and female toilets.

If there is no fire marshal present, please check the office is fully evacuated, including the meeting room and both male and female toilets.

Please ensure you take your work iPhone with you. (It’s always important you keep your Outlook contacts up-to-date).

Evacuate immediately and carefully on hearing the alarm. Do not make phone calls, text, eat, drink etc. whilst evacuating from the building.

Close all fire doors behind you and do not take the lift.

Exiting the building

Exit the office by following the fire exit signs. There is one fire exit from the office, accessed via the staircase located in the communal lobby outside the office. This staircase takes you down to the ground floor rear exit, which then leads down an alleyway at the side of the building, through a gate at the front on Cornwall Street. All fire exits can be released with push buttons or bars.

Muster point

The muster station is located on Church Street (the entire street, from the corner of Cornwall Street). Turn left out of the gate on Cornwall Street, and left again into Church Street. Always muster with your colleagues so you can be easily located. The fire marshal (where there is no fire marshal present you will need to nominate a colleague to deputise for the fire marshal) will take the roll call. Where any staff or visitors are missing, the fire marshal/ nominated person may ask you to call them on their mobiles to help locate them. Please be on hand to help.

The fire marshal/ nominated person must then report to Bruntwood’s Fire Marshal to advise whether everyone from Lichfields, including visitors, have been accounted for. Bruntwood’s Fire Marshal will be wearing a yellow hi-viz jacket and holding a sign.

Only return to the building once you have been advised it is safe to do so by Bruntwood’s Fire Marshal, the fire service or police etc.
