In the event of seeing or smelling a fire

If you see or smell a fire, dial 999 immediately and activate the fire alarm. Only use fire fighting equipment if you have received training and feel confident to do so.

If you hear the fire alarm

Lichfields’ fire marshals (Caitlin Newham and/or Maria Misikova) will check the office is fully evacuated, including the meeting room and both male and female toilets.

If there is no fire marshal present, please check the office is fully evacuated, including the meeting room and both male and female toilets.

Please ensure you take your work iPhone with you. (It’s always important you keep your Outlook contacts up-to-date).

Evacuate immediately and carefully on hearing the alarm. Do not make phone calls, text, eat, drink etc. whilst evacuating from the building.

Close all fire doors behind you and do not take the lift.

Exiting the building

Exit the office by following the fire exit signs. There are two fire exits from the office, accessed via the staircase one located in the lift lobby and second one by the entrance to the terrace (see plan below).

Fire Exit 1:  This staircase takes you down to main ground floor reception. Make your way out of the building via main entrance to the Blok to your assembly point – ‘Opposite the building on Castle Street (the entrance to Castle Park)’.

Fire Exit 2: This staircase takes you down to the pavement in front of the building on Castle Street. Make your way out to your assembly point – ‘Opposite the building on Castle Street (the entrance to Castle Park)’.

All fire exits are released automatically.

Muster point

The muster station is located opposite the building on Castle Street (the entrance to Castle Park). The fire marshal(s) (where there is no fire marshal present you will need to nominate a colleague to deputise for the fire marshal) will take the roll call. Where any staff or visitors are missing, the fire marshal/nominated person may ask you to call them on their mobiles to help locate them. Please be on hand to help. The fire marshal/nominated person must then report to Anna Smith, building manager to advise whether everyone from Lichfields, including visitors, have been accounted for. Anna Smith will be wearing a yellow hi-viz jacket.

Only return to the building once you have been advised it is safe to do so by the building manager, the fire service or police etc.
