In the event of seeing or smelling a fire
If you see or smell a fire, dial 999 immediately and activate the fire alarm. Only use fire-fighting equipment if you have received training and feel confident to do so.
If you hear the fire alarm
Lichfields’ fire marshals (Sara Preston and/or Ed Rehill) will check the office is fully evacuated, including the meeting room and both male and female toilets.
If there are no fire marshals present, nominate one person to take charge. They will need to wear the Hi-Viz vest and take the laminated “Lichfields” card. They will also be responsible for checking the office is fully evacuated, including the meeting room and both male and female toilets. Both the laminated card and vest can be found in the cupboard to the right of the clock.
Please ensure you take your work iPhone with you. (N.B. It’s always important you keep your Outlook contacts up to date).
Evacuate immediately and carefully on hearing the alarm. Do not make phone calls, text, eat, drink etc. whilst evacuating from the building.
Close all fire doors behind you and do not take the lift.
Exiting the building
Exit the office by either turning left or right out of lichfields’ office and following the fire exit signs down and out of the building. Please note that there are three further fire exits from the building; which exit you take will depend upon where you are in the building at the time the alarm sounds. Where you are not in the office, do not return to collect any belongings, evacuate the building immediately by the nearest available exit. All fire exit doors can be released with push buttons or bars.
Muster point

During normal working hours, the muster point is located in Forbury Gardens by the Lion statue. Always muster with your colleagues so you can be easily located. The fire marshal (where there is no fire marshal present the nominated person deputising as fire marshal) will take the roll call. Where any staff or visitors are missing, the fire marshal/ nominated person may ask you to call them on their mobiles to help locate them. Please be on hand to help.
The fire marshal/ nominated person must then report to the Apex Plaza Fire Marshal showing the Lichfields laminated card to show that everyone from Lichfields, including visitors, have been accounted for. Apex Plaza’s Fire Marshal will be wearing a yellow hi-viz jacket and holding a sign.
Only return to the building once you have been advised it is safe to do so by the Apex Plaza Fire Marshal, the fire service or police etc.
Outside normal working hours (between 17.30 hrs – 07.00 hrs), the muster point will be at main west entrance by the Apex layby where the bollards are.
