Planning permission granted for Nationwide’s first housing development
The 239 home, intergenerational development includes 71 affordable homes and new community facilities. It has been designed following two years of public consultation by Nationwide and Igloo. The not for profit development, designed by Metropolitan Workshop and PRP, includes a mix of specially designed homes and communal gardens which seek to deliver an inclusive and mixed community.
Lichfields has provided planning advise to Nationwide since 2016, this included a front loaded and collaborative pre-application process with Swindon Borough Council planning department. The extensive public engagement and collaborative design development with planners resulted in the proposals receiving unanimous support from Swindon Borough Council, local residents and the wider community, with the application being determined under delegated powers.
This has been our first project with Lichfields. It’s been a great collaboration, they’ve been very responsive all the way through and we couldn’t have asked for a better outcome.
