Lichfields shortlisted at RTPI Yorkshire Award for Planning Excellence 2019

04 Oct 2019
Lichfields is delighted that the restored Great Barn at Bolton Abbey was shortlisted at the RTPI Yorkshire Award for Planning Excellence 2019.
Lichfields obtained planning permission and scheduled monument consent in 2017 to facilitate the transformation of this magnificent sixteenth century Grade II* listed building, located within the Bolton Priory Estate in the Yorkshire Dales National Park, from a cluttered agricultural store into a magical wedding venue.
The project has already won a suite of prestigious awards from the Royal Institute of British Architects (RIBA) and the Royal Institute of Chartered Surveyors (RICS), and Lichfields is delighted that the planning efforts of the project have been recognised by the RTPI in celebrating outstanding people and projects that demonstrate the power of planning in the Yorkshire Region.

We are thrilled to be shortlisted.  It took five years to undertake all the necessary research and planning work and we are endebted to Lichfields and the rest of the project team for their help and hard work.

Will Kemp, Planning Manager at the Bolton Abbey Estate

We are very proud to see this project recognised by the RTPI as representing the very best of planning and planners in the Yorkshire region.  The project has been a genuine collaboration of a team of remarkable specialists, and has provided a compatible use for the Great Barn which better reveals its historic significance and opens up the building’s interior for the public to enjoy – if you find yourself at Bolton Abbey it’s certainly not to be missed!
