Hackney Wick mixed-use redevelopment secured

26 Jun 2020
Lichfields has helped secure a resolution to grant planning permission for the mixed-use redevelopment of Queen’s Yard in Hackney Wick, comprising 143 Built to Rent homes, including discount market rent, flexible market and affordable workspace and enabling the delivery a significantly enhanced facility for the renowned Yard Theatre.

Following an engaging virtual debate on the role of Discount Market Rent accommodation in meeting local affordable housing need and the value of the arts and creative industries in the area’s regeneration, the application was ultimately supported by the LLDC’s Planning Advisory Committee.

The resolution is a significant milestone in the area’s ongoing regeneration, setting a precedent for high quality heritage sensitive design; reinforcing Queens Yard as the vibrant beating heart of the East London neighbourhood.

Lichfields has worked proactively on the project with the LLDC, alongside Shaw Corporation as strategic advisors to Hatton Garden Properties, and both StockWool and Jestico + Whiles Architects. The permission further cements Lichfields’ pre-eminence in the LLDC area.
