IAMP scoops top prize at RTPI North East Awards

Lichfields is delighted that International Advanced Manufacturing Park (IAMP) has won the Award for Planning Excellence at the RTPI North East Regional Awards. The awards celebrate outstanding projects that demonstrate the power of planning in the region.

IAMP, located in Sunderland and South Tyneside, is being brought forward by IAMP LLP (Sunderland and South Tyneside Councils) with HBD as development partner. It will deliver 392,000sqm (4.2 million sqft) of industrial floorspace for advanced manufacturing and automotive uses creating over 7,000 jobs.

Splitting part of the site from the declared Development Consent Order boundary, enabled planning applications to be fast-tracked and three manufacturing units to be built to tight timescales, meeting an urgent requirement from Nissan for a locally based supply chain to increase production efficiency.

In response to the COVID-19 pandemic, one building has been rapidly adapted and fitted out as a regional Nightingale hospital.
