Success for Haven's flagship holiday park

17 Dec 2021
There are many great locations in Wales but one of our favourites is the Llyn peninsula where Haven has its flagship holiday park Hafan y Môr.  This has seen over 20 years of investment and a new round of improvements with a value of about £13million have most recently been approved. Ranging from coastal defence works - all  to be funded by Haven - to new high quality visitor and staff accommodation as well as a state of the art beachside café, the projects will be another step in creating one of the best holiday parks in Wales.

To facilitate this significant investment Lichfields coordinated a complex EIA planning application and also supported a parallel marine licence application. We provided economic inputs into the IROPI case, required as part of the HRA assessment due to the coastal defences being located within a Special Area of Conservation. We also managed an application to divert the Wales Coastal Path, coordinated the public consultation process and presented at planning committee.

Due to its location on the western extent of Gwynedd the impact on the Welsh Language was an important consideration and Lichfields was able to prepare a Welsh Language Impact Statement to demonstrate that the impact was acceptable and that the project would provide valuable jobs to local people. We also presented at committee through the medium of Welsh which assisted in obtaining a positive outcome for our client.
