Lichfields recognised at RTPI Awards for Research Excellence

03 Aug 2023
Lichfields is delighted to see Banking on Brownfield shortlisted in the Planning Practitioner category at the RTPI Awards for Research Excellence. The awards continue to recognise and promote high quality, impactful spatial planning research.
This year’s submission, Banking on Brownfield, was prepared by Lichfields for the Land Promoter and Developers Federation (LDPF). It considers whether brownfield land is sufficient in size, in location and in its deliverability to meet the country’s housing needs as suggested by The Levelling up White Paper, 2021 Conservative Party Conference speeches and the £1.5bn Brownfield housing fund.
The report concludes that if the Government wants to meet its target of building 300,000 homes each year, no source of land can be ‘off the table’. Lichfields’ analysis shows that there is simply not enough brownfield land in any part of the country to meet housing needs alone.
I am proud to be shortlisted for this year’s Practitioner Award. It highlights the important role Lichfields has in producing innovative, industry-leading research for the development sector.
