Matthew Spry

Matthew is an expert in housing and local economic growth. He helps clients generate value through strategic land promotion, particularly for urban extensions, new settlements, and related infrastructure. Matthew also takes responsibility for a diverse range of economics, regeneration, and airport projects, and is leading the Lichfields work on digital planning reform. Since 2020 he has been Head of the London Office. 

Matthew is widely recognised for his knowledge of plan-making, and in 2016 was an advisor on the DCLG Local Plans Expert Group. He is a seasoned expert witness at public inquiries and examinations and is also a non-Executive Director of Repton - Norfolk County Council's housing development company. He is a Fellow of the Academy of Social Sciences. He rejoined Lichfields in 2008 as a Senior Director in London, having previously worked for the company in Newcastle between 1997 and 2004.
