Alan Hughes appointed to Build-to-Rent Taskforce
11 Feb 2025Lichfields would like to congratulate Alan Hughes, Planning Director in the Manchester Office, on being appointed to the Build-to-Rent Taskforce.
The British Property Federation (BPF) and Association for Rental Living (ARL) formed Taskforce aims to support the growth of the Built-to-Rent sector and promote its benefits, in particular its role in helping deliver the Government’s ambitious housing targets, by facilitating public and private partnerships, whilst also protecting its consumers through a new Code of Practice and Customer Charter.
The Taskforce is chaired by Clive Betts MP, the former chair of the cross-party Housing and Communities Select Committee, and features 24 leading professionals including developers, operators, advisers, investors, and representatives from the BPF and ARL.
It is a privilege to be involved and I look forward to working with the Taskforce to share Lichfields’ perspectives and champion the BtR sector. Whether it is higher density apartments in urban locations, or family-orientated suburban typologies, BtR has an important role to play in the future of the housing market. We need to ensure the benefits are better communicated and its place embedded in planning policy, ultimately so investment continues to flow and positive outcomes are realised for communities.
Alan Hughes, Planning Director
