Project
Belper Health Centre
Derbyshire Community Health Services NHS Foundation Trust
Derbyshire Community Health Services NHS Foundation Trust sought to redevelop its existing Belper Clinic site to construct a modern, state of the art new health centre to provide critical healthcare services to communities across Derbyshire.
Situated in the Derwent Valley Mills UNESCO World Heritage Site and Belper and Milford Conservation Area, Lichfields secured full planning permission and Listed Building Consent for the demolition of the existing clinic and construction of a new health centre on the site of the Grade II Listed Babington Hospital site, Derbyshire.
Despite being partially located within Flood Zone 3 and having significant heritage constraints, Lichfields managed the planning application process and assisted the project team to secured planning approval in September 2023 for a future BREAAM Excellent healthcare development.
Services included project management and significant engagement with key stakeholders at Amber Valley Borough Council to reach agreement on final design proposals. Lichfields’ Heritage Team also supported the Trust in navigating the UNESCO World Heritage Site and Conservation Area designations to assess and mitigate potential harm to the heritage context.
Lichfields has supported the Trust throughout the planning process providing professional services and tenacity resulting in consent for our flagship healthcare development in a UNESCO World Heritage Site. We are pleased to continue working with Lichfields to discharge the planning conditions.
