Chessington World of Adventures Resort

Chessington World of Adventures Resort (CWoAR) has evolved considerably from its modest beginnings as a zoo to one of the Country’s leading family visitor attractions. As one of our longest standing projects, for over four decades Lichfields has been there every step of the way to help CWoAR develop its entertainment offer and remain an industry leader, despite the development constraints imposed by the Green Belt location.

Lichfields prepared the original Planning Brief for the Resort adopted in 1984 and CWoAR opened as a theme park in 1987 – the first of its kind in Britain. Our planning advice helped it reach that milestone and kick on from there to become a short break tourist destination of regional significance, along with the development of two hotels and glamping accommodation. Our inputs have secured planning permission for rides such as Croc Drop and the Mandrill Mayhem rollercoaster – CWoARs first inversion!
