LEGOLAND Windsor Resort

Merlin Entertainments Group

LEGO is an abbreviation of the two Danish words ‘leg godt’ which means ‘play well’ – Lichfields has been planning well for the Resort for a decade. Despite the potential challenges posed by the site, it is in the Green Belt and adjacent to a Site of Special Scientific Interest and Ancient Woodland, Lichfields has successfully gained planning permission for new facilities, rides and attractions to enable the Resort to grow and refresh its offer for visitors.
In 2016 we secured planning permission for a 61 bedroom extension to the LEGOLAND Windsor Resort hotel; a castle themed building located within the core of the Park. Lichfields’ graphics team continue to plan and prepare consultation events to keep key stakeholders and local residents informed of emerging development proposals. Underpinning the case for major development at the Resort are sound economic impact assessments which our economics team prepare. Lichfields continue to advise LEGOLAND on its long term development strategy.

LEGOLAND Windsor was the second LEGO Park to open and since 1996 it has evolved into an exciting Resort. Lichfields has helped deliver numerous rides, attractions and hotels that have enabled the Resort to meet visitor needs and expectations. This has ensured that the Resort is a successful visitor attraction to the local and regional economies. Working for LEGOLAND – part of Merlin Entertainments – means that we advise on planning for one of the UK’s leading theme parks.
