Clapham One

After helping U+I win the right to carry out a public-private partnership project with London Borough of Lambeth, Lichfields secured a complicated single planning permission for mixed uses on two sites across Clapham High Street: new housing above a public library and health centre on one side of the street and a new swimming pool and leisure centre alongside affordable housing on the other.

The tallest building was designed by SEW to fit within the parameters of a 1960s office block in the heart of Clapham town centre and to offer a replacement library.

Phased delivery took place across the post-2008 recession and ensured minimal interruption to important public services.

We were happy to work again with Lichfields to ensure a smooth path to planning permission for what turned out to be a very successful and attractive PPP scheme.
