Project
Crosland Moor Quarry
Johnsons Wellfield Limited
Johnsons Wellfield invited Lichfields to prepare a planning application with an Environmental Impact Assessment for the development of a new quarry working on pasture land to the west of Huddersfield. With existing reserves of stone supply nearing exhaustion, the continued availability of durable hard sandstone for prestige architectural and heritage projects strengthens the need for this minerals extraction scheme.
Making a significant contribution to the local economy, the proposed extraction of approximately one million tonnes of dimension stone over a term of 20 years, will generate raw material for the production of high quality architectural products, for which there is national demand.
Sensitive minerals working, and environmental practice with progressive site restoration, are key elements of the proposal. Located in an upland countryside setting within the Green Belt, the phasing and screening of the site is designed to minimise views into it from neighbouring locations.
