Economic Assessment of Growth Options for Letchworth

Letchworth Garden City Heritage Foundation

Lichfields prepared an economic assessment of housing growth options on behalf of Letchworth Garden City Heritage Foundation. We analysed different scenarios of future demographic and economic change in Letchworth – the world’s first Garden City – and shared our findings with the local community through a town-wide consultation process about accommodating new housing. This culminated in the decision by the Foundation’s Board to promote new housing sites as part of the North Hertfordshire District Council Local Plan consultation process, including land north of the Grange Estate as a potential location for 1,000 homes.

Lichfields was delighted to help inform local debate and assist the Heritage Foundation in making this important decision, which includes the first significant urban extension to the world’s first Garden City for over 40 years.
