Heathrow Employment Land Forecasting

Heathrow Airport Limited

As part of its long-awaited plans for a third runway, Heathrow Airport Limited asked Lichfields to prepare an Employment Land Forecasting Assessment. The study identified the functional economic area of Heathrow and, within this, measured its existing land use footprint - across hotels, cargo, maintenance, industry, and office activities. From this, Lichfields explored how the need for these land uses will change up to 2040 as Heathrow grows with its extra runway capacity.

Lichfields was proud to have the chance to work with Heathrow on this important study. Our work is an important input to the once-in-a-generation opportunity to design a comprehensive planning strategy for a global hub-airport.
