Merchant Anglo (Amazon Park) GP
Merchant Anglo (Amazon Park) GP appointed Lichfields to obtain the necessary planning permissions to allow Hitachi Rail Europe to operate a brand new, state of the art, facility at Newton Aycliffe in County Durham. Advising on complex development management issues, Lichfields successfully amended an outline planning permission, obtained reserved matters approval and discharged planning conditions for the £80 million development which employs more than 600 people building new rolling stock for the East Coast and Great Western lines as well as ScotRail.
Working closely with the Project Team and Client we were able to successfully deliver the necessary planning permissions for this £80 million investment in County Durham, officially opened by the Prime Minister and Chancellor in September 2015. When fully commissioned the plant will create over 1,000 jobs providing a welcome boost to the local economy.
