Project
North West Cowbridge
CEG
Advising CEG on an extension to the historic town of Cowbridge required Lichfields to combine: planning, Environmental Statement, masterplanning and economic roles, and engaging with the multi-disciplinary team to create a layout for 390 new homes, space for a primary school, play areas and good links to the town centre. The masterplan also provided for a western link road reducing traffic within Cowbridge town centre.
A significant focus of the design work was to achieve an appropriate response to the edge of the town location on the western approach with noteworthy views across the site. Quality of design was crucial and our masterplan responded to the character of the local area to reinforce local distinctiveness and establish a strong sense of place, using existing landscape features and the topography, to create an attractive and comfortable place to live.
This was a great example of collaborative working between CEG and the Council to deliver much needed new housing in a sensitive location as well as essential infrastructure that will bring wider community benefits.
