Sky Studios Elstree

Lichfields secured planning permission for a major new film and TV studio in Borehamwood, which is set to open in 2022 and be operated by Sky Studios. We have been at the heart of the project and act on behalf of the landowner, Legal & General, who is financing and developing the scheme.
The development includes sound stages, production offices, a set construction workshop and post-production facilities. The full planning application was submitted to Hertsmere Borough Council in March 2020. We managed the production of the planning application for the project, advised on strategy and co-ordinated the Environmental Impact Assessment. The planning application was supported by inputs from our economics team and we prepared a landscape and visual impact report and health impact assessment. We also organised two public consultation events, combining our planning and graphic design services. We continue to advise L&G on planning matters at the site.
Sky Studios Elstree will provide a major boost to UK TV and film studio capacity. We are delighted to have played a part in bringing this project forward and to have advised L&G and Sky since inception through to the opening of the studios.
