After 80 years of operation, the closure of the aerodrome and aircraft factory within the Green Belt at Woodford provided an unparalleled opportunity for a mixed-use redevelopment to deliver 920 homes, business units, local shops, a public house, care accommodation and a primary school.
Lichfields led the proposal through the planning process and were instructed to support ongoing delivery. Our role included assisting the Council in the preparation of a Supplementary Planning Document setting out the future of the site; close consultation with the council and local residents; preparation of the planning application; and coordination of the Environmental Statement.
Lichfields provided clear and effective advice on a challenging and rapidly evolving job. To take such a sensitive Green Belt site through a complex and demanding planning process is a testament to their professionalism and dedication.
