New Purpose Built Shared Living scheme in Hackney Wick

27 Sept 2024
Lichfields is pleased to have secured planning approval from the London Legacy Development Corporation (LLDC) for a new Purpose Built Shared Living scheme in Hackney Wick, on behalf of Halcyon Development Partners.
Designed by Morris + Co architects, the development features two warehouse-style buildings connected by a 7th-floor bridge, providing 337 co-living studios, high-quality amenities, a new public square, and public access to the River Lee Navigation. It also includes affordable creative and workspace provision, in partnership with the Hackney Wick & Fish Island Community Development Trust.
This project exemplifies the redevelopment of a former industrial brownfield site in a prime, sustainable location in east London, aligning with local and strategic policy. Lichfields led the planning application process, culminating in unanimous approval from the LLDC’s Planning Committee on 24th September.
Halcyon is a leading co-living developer with a strong track record, including the RIBA award-winning Sunday Mills in Earlsfield. This latest project in Hackney Wick will not only deliver much-needed homes for single-person households but also support the local community through its partnership with the Community Development Trust.

This has been a fantastic scheme to work on. Halcyon’s thoughtful, community-focused design sets a new standard for co-living, and their collaboration with the Community Development Trust is a standout feature of the project.
