‘School Rebuilding Programme’ - Whitley Bay High School

Bam Construction Ltd

As the UK’s post-war schools reach the end of their lifespan, Lichfields are now planning the schools of the future; working with contractors on various new buildings under the Department for Education’s ‘School Rebuilding Programme’ (‘SRP’). On behalf of Bam Construction Ltd, Lichfields obtained planning permission in March 2022 for the redevelopment of Whitley Bay High School; our latest and sixth SRP school project.

With programme always critical to the delivery of education projects, Lichfields obtained planning permission for the project within six months of instruction. Through proactive management of the application with both the local planning authority and statutory consultees, we were able to manage the scope of any pre-commencement planning conditions. This enabled development to begin on site within the timescales required to ensure a start on site by the Department for Education’s target date. Ultimately, this means that the opening of the school can be choreographed around term times to meet the educational needs of Whitley Bay High School’s pupils.
