Trent Park

Project

Trent Park

Berkeley Homes (North East London) Ltd

The Grade II listed Trent Park Mansion House and its surrounding landscape – once the scene of extravagant society parties, then an intelligence operations base during the Second World War, before conversion to a university campus – is being returned to its former glory as part of a large-scale mixed-use development with a primary residential focus, delivering approximately 260 dwellings and community and leisure floorspace. The house is at the heart of a 413-acre estate with expansive gardens and parkland which will be restored as part of the landscape-led masterplan.
Lichfields advised Berkeley Homes on the strategy for the site’s combined restoration and redevelopment, coordinating a significant pre-application consultation process to seek early-stage buy-in from consultees and stakeholders. We prepared a comprehensive Alternative Uses Assessment to justify the change of use and advised on the development case, including Green Belt and heritage considerations; in support of the application, we prepared a combined built heritage, visual impact and historic landscape assessment Environmental Statement chapter and a comprehensive Planning Statement. We coordinated and submitted the planning and listed building consent applications, which were granted consent by London Borough of Enfield in 2017.
We continue to provide ongoing planning and heritage support during the detailed design and build-out phases.

Lichfields are a superior planning consultancy who provide accurate and thorough advice on complex planning heritage and planning matters. They go above and beyond to meet our requirements and have been key in delivering a truly exemplar project at Trent Park.
