Heritage and Townscape 2022 review

Heritage & Townscape 2022 Review

As the Heritage and Townscape Team looks forward to 2023, we’re pleased to provide a preview of exciting things to come in the New Year. We’ve also taken this opportunity to look back at 2022, Lichfields’ 60th anniversary, to celebrate our recent projects.

Our combined Heritage and Townscape team highlights our multi-disciplinary expertise and integration of our services within Lichfields’ broad offer as the UK’s pre-eminent planning and development consultancy. We pride ourselves on providing heritage and townscape advice with a focus on its role within the planning system.

Over the last year we have embraced the return to our London office in the historic by taking our staff from around the country on heritage walking tours. Starting with the Roman Wall by the Tower of London, we have explored the city’s diverse architectural heritage, including the ruined church of St Dunstan in the East, and Richard Rogers' high-tech masterpiece, the Grade I Lloyd's building.

2023 will bring...

...regional specialists

Madeleine Rigby will be relocating from London to our Bristol office allowing us to focus more direct attention across the South West. Madeleine brings more than five years experience and having already secured some interesting projects in Bristol and Wiltshire, we are excited to see what the year ahead will bring!

Well-placed: A good place framework

Utilising Lichfields’ townscape, heritage and urban design expertise, our Good Place Framework will provide independent, clearly illustrated and well articulated assessments of the suitability of schemes in their distinctive locations.

...increased scrutiny

With changes to the NPPF in 2021 putting greater emphasis on design quality, and reform to the Planning system likely to follow soon, a thorough understanding of the local distinctiveness, character, and heritage context is vital in ensuring success in the planning system.

As Lichfields has expertise in planning, townscape, and heritage, we are ideally placed to advise on these matters. Please get in touch with any queries or projects and we look forward to working with you in 2023.
